Artwork and Photography:  Items entered in 2009 may not be entered in 2010.  There will be a watchman on duty at all times.  Fair board is not responsible for damage or loss of exhibits. Exhibits must remain in place until Sunday.  Premiums will be paid at that time.  Open to Pike County residents only.

Department C
Flowers

Members in charge: M. Vulgamore, B. Ward, S. Weeter
Entries are open to amateur flower growers in Pike County. No commercial exhibitors to compete with amateurs.  Exhibitors need to follow guidelines specifically.  A preparation area will be available in which exhibitors may assemble their floral arrangements prior to entry.  Accredited judges of hte Ohio Association of Garden Clubs (OAGC), Inc. will judge the show according to the standard system.

Color Combination - 25 points
Suitability & Interpretation - 20 points
Distinction & Originality - 20 points
Condition - 10 points
Total - 100 points

Each artistic design must include fresh and/or dried material.  Dried or preserved plant material may be of a natural color or painted.  No artificially colored or treated fresh materials should be used.  Flower Show sponsored by the Waverly Garden Club. 
First place- $3, second place - $2, third place - $1
*Best of Show - Rosettes plus an additional prize awarded by the Waverly Garden Club for Senior and Junior Artistic, Specimen and Horticulture Division Winners.

Section A
Artistic Arrangements
(2 entries per exhibitor per class)
All designs limited to 18 inches wide unless otherwise specificied in the class descripiton.  The classes may be further divided at the discretion of the flower show committee if large

Senior Division

1.  Daydreaming - a creative mass in a creative container that supports the class title.
2.  Roll Up Your Sleeves - entry must incorporate weathered board, wood, or branches no taller ahn 24 inches x 14 inches wide.  Entry may use live or dried materials.
3.  Diggin In - arrangement should incorporate gardening parapehnalia (tools, basket, gloves, etc.)
4.  Reuse, recycle, reclaim - arrangement should incorporate "found" objects.
5.  A Breath of Summer - arranger's choice miniature design must be no more than 5" in any direction.
6.  Summer Memories - arrangers choice miniature design must be no more than 5" in any direction.

Junior Division

1.  Mr. MacGregor's Garden - entry must incorporate fruits or vegetables with flowers.
2.  Dance of the Flowers - colorful, airy arrangement
3.  Scavanger Hunt - entry that may use recyclable items in a collage format.  The exhibitor may use a sheet of backboard on an easel for the collage and incorporate an arrangement of live or dried plants, and fit within a 14 x 14 space.

Invitational Class

We would like to encourage local professionals to provide artistic or horticultural entries that depict either the flower show theme and/or one of the classes listed above.
Theme:  "Festival of Flowers" - relate arrangements to local festivals.

Section B
Specimens
(2 entries per exhibitor per class).  There will be a Senior Division and a Junior Division (exhibitor's under the age of 18); the Junior Division may be further divided at the discretion of the flower show committee if a large number of entries are received.  Exhibitors should leave foliage attached except what would be under water.

First premium - $3, second premium - $2, third premium - $1
1.  Zinnia - large, one bloom, disbudded
2.  Zinnia - medium (2-3"), one bloom, disbudded
3.  Gladiolus - any size/variety, remove side shoots
4.  Marigold - large, one bloom, disbudded
5.  Marigold - 1 spray, any variety, not disbudded
6.  Roses - tea size, 1 spray
7.  Roses - single rose on 4-5" stem
8.  Dahlia - large, one bloom disbudded
9.  Dahlia - medium/small (6-10), one bloom, disbudded
10.Sunflower - larger than 5"
11.Sunflower - smaller than 5"
12. Daisy
13. Lily - any size/variety, remove side shoots, disbudded
14. Spike (straight); yucca, snapdragons, hollyhock, etc.

Section C
Horticultures of Choice

(2 entries per exhibitor per class).  There will be a Senior Division and a Junior Division (exhibitor's under the age of 18); the Junior Division may be further divided at the discretion of the flower show committee if a large number of entries are received.  No entry may be presented in a plastic nursery pot; pots should be clean and not exceed 10" diameter.
First premium - $3, second premium - $2, third premium - $1
1.  Potted flowering plant, any single variety
2.  Potted foliage plant, any signle variety
3.  Potted plant, mixed type and/or variety
4.  Hanging basket, flowering
5.  Hanging basket, foliage
6.  Container garden (plants with the same cultural growing requirements; the garden may include some accessories so that it resembles an established landscape or flower bed)

Farm and Garden Display

General Rules for all Farm and Garden Products Display
1.  Exhibits open to Pike County Residents only
2.  Exhibits must be grown by exhibitor during current year and exhibited by grower.
3.  Punch a hole in the paper plate and tie your exhibitor card securely.
4.  All displays must be in place at designated times.
5.  If you desire another person to remove your exhibit, you must present written permission designating that person and signed by exhibitor, to present to committee in charge.

Department D
Farm Products

Entries may not be removed until Sunday,  After that time, all entries become property of the Board for disposal.

Farm and Village Gardens 
1st place $3, 2nd place $2, 3rd place $1, Best of Show - Rosette
Section D (1 entry per exhibitor)

1.  One half bushel basket or peck basket or any attractive basket of an assortment of vegetables (grown in Pike County) to be judged on quality, arrangement, attractiveness (not less than ten (10) varieties).
2.  An attractive table arrangement in a small, attractive basket, tray or dish consisting of at least eight (8) different varieties of vegetables (grown in Pike County) to be judged on quality, arrangement and attractiveness.
3.  An attractive table arrangement in a small, attractive basket, tray or dish consisting of at least five (5) different varieties of fruits (grown in Pike County) to be judged on quality, arrangement and attractiveness.
4.  Scarecrow contest; Construct and dress a scarecrow.  Judging will be based on originality, neatness and attractiveness.
